WIC Breastfeeding Support Curriculum

The curriculum is structured in four tiered levels of learning based on staff roles. Each level builds on one another to take staff to higher levels of learning based on their role in WIC. Each level of training content enables the learner to dive deeper into content specific to their role. This enables staff to be fully aware of their roles and responsibilities supporting breastfeeding, and their scope of practice in WIC.

Level 1: All WIC staff, students, and volunteers

  • Level 1 is offered via an on-demand training module through the learning management system (LMS) TRAIN.org. WIC staff/students/volunteers/contractors must create or login to their account in TRAIN.org before registering for the course.

The North Carolina WIC Program welcomes community members to participate in Level 2: Peer Counselors ONLY training. This training is best for individuals who will be supporting new families with normal breastfeeding situations and is not designed to provide education on complex breastfeeding problems. Community members must attend all days including traveling to in-person days at the location identified below.
