The State Consumer and Family Advisory Committee is a self-governing and self-directed organization that advises the Department of Health and Human Services and the General Assembly on the planning and management of the State’s public mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance abuse services system. Presentations at each meeting are provided by subject matter experts on various topics including, but not limited to, social determinants of health, Medicaid Transformation, and policy impacting consumers and their family members.

Community Alternatives Program for Disabled Adults Renewal Waiver Application UpdateA draft application for § 1915 (c) Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Waiver for the Community Alternatives Program for Disabled Adults (CAP/DA) was submitted to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on March 1, 2019 for review and approval. CMS continues to review the renewed waiver application and has recommended NC Medicaid make edits to specific sections in the application.

County leaders and partners are invited to join a special conversation with Secretary of Health and Human Services Mandy Cohen, M.D. who will kick-off a new quarterly interactive webcast for county partners.

This webcast will provide an update on Medicaid Transformation and its impact on counties, as well as outline the supports that will be available from DHHS during this transition. Participants will be able to help shape the conversation through interactive polling.

The Medicaid and Health Choice Preferred Drug List (PDL) Review Panel was established by DHHS to conduct open meetings to discuss recommended policies and procedures related to the PDL and to address the public comments that were received during the PDL comment period. The administration and review of the North Carolina Medicaid and Health Choice PDL follows the Preferred Drug List Review Panel Guidelines and Procedures.
