Laketha M. Miller is the Director of the Office of the Controller at DHHS. She oversees the management and disbursement of an annual budget of approximately $20 billion and an office of 220 employees responsible for all accounting and collection functions throughout the Department.

The Office of the Controller also develops, implements and evaluates all financial management and reporting policies and procedures for DHHS as authorized by state and federal guidelines.

Miller has a proven record of developing and implementing financial and operational controls to improve efficiencies, maximize federal revenues, minimize audit exceptions and increase reporting transparencies.

Prior to becoming the Controller at DHHS, Miller worked her way up through several positions within the DHHS Office of the Controller, and the N.C. Office of the State Controller.

She received a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from North Carolina State University in 1988, and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1991.

Miller and her husband have a teenage son and daughter.
