Adult Care Facilities

Update

The next Adult Care Cost Report for facilities who receive State/County Special Assistance funds or an Exemption for those that don’t, will be due on September 30, 2027. The cost report should be prepared based on the latest fiscal/accounting year end of the facility, beginning with the year end of September 2026 through the year end of June 30, 2027.

In the North Carolina State budget for 2026-2027 (Session Law 2026-41, Senate Bill 257), Section 9F.2(a), changes were made to General Statute 131D-4.2 which governs the Adult Care Cost Reporting requirements. Beginning on or after July 1, 2026, AUPs will no longer be required when submitting a cost report for facilities with 7 or more beds. For anyone who will be using the web-based program for the first time for the upcoming 2026-2027 cost reporting cycle, it is strongly encouraged to attend a training session next year. Please stay tuned as more information will be posted as soon as it is available with all information (including training dates) tentatively posted by late May or June 2027. If you have questions, please contact Yashaciqa Davis at 919-527-7175 or yashaciqa.Davis@dhhs.nc.gov
