Vital Records is responsible for recording vital events that take place in North Carolina. This includes responsibility for legally registering:

• Deaths
• Fetal deaths
• Marriages
• Divorces

Vital Records maintains these records and provides certified or uncertified copies to individuals, researchers, and public health programs.
