New Logos, Brand Guidance Now Available for DHHS

The Office of Communications is pleased to share updated branding guidance for DHHS that replaces the “NC Tree' and uses the state seal.

May 2, 2018 — The Office of Communications is pleased to share updated branding guidance for DHHS that replaces the “NC Tree” and uses the state seal.

You can find the new brand materials here: https://ncconnect.sharepoint.com/sites/dhhs/ooc/SitePages/Branding.aspx. You will need to use your email and NCID password to log in.

Download two zipped files to obtain all branding elements: 00-DHHS-Branding.zip and the one with your Division’s or Office’s name on it.

In the 00-DHHS-Branding.zip file you’ll find:

  • A Branding Guidance document outlining the changes and how to incorporate the new logo into your materials as part of the NCDHHS brand. (This is located in the Brand Guidance folder.)
  • Image files for the state seal and vertical and horizontal versions of the Department logo.
  • Templates for business cards, email signatures, factsheets, letterhead and PowerPoints.

In the folders for Divisions and Offices, you’ll find the horizontal and vertical versions of the Division/Office logos such as the examples to the left for the Office of Communications.

In this transition, please remember to be a good steward of resources and first expend all existing supplies of printed materials with old logos to conserve costs and resources.

Other points that may be helpful:

  • Email Signature Disclosure: To ensure the required disclosure statement appears at the bottom of all DHHS emails, do not add any disclosures to your signature in Outlook. Even though you cannot see it in your draft message, Outlook automatically adds the disclosure below to all DHHS emails once you hit send.
  • Email Signature Logo: No logos should be used in email signatures. See the 2018 Branding Guidance-Email Sigs document for more information.
  • Department Name: We are the NC Department of Health and Human Services, abbreviated as NCDHHS or DHHS.
  • Font: The logos are designed using the Gotham font, but all editable Microsoft Word templates use the Arial font to ensure compatibility. (Not all computers have the Gotham font.)
  • Printing: To conserve costs, we’ve provided black-and-white templates for the letterhead, business card and factsheets.
  • Web: Department websites will begin using the state seal logos. That transition will be completed soon and the Office of Communications will work with Divisions that maintain their websites to ensure sites are updated.

We understand with these new materials will come questions. For assistance, please contact your Division’s Communications Manager or contact the Office of Communications by calling 919-855-4840 or emailing pa2@dhhs.nc.gov
