Deadline for SECC Donations Extended to Dec. 14

Author: Ryan Hill

Oct. 15, 2018 – The deadline for giving to the 2018 State Employees Combined Campaign has been extended to Dec. 14.

The extension provides employees of the NC Department of Health and Human Services six additional weeks to donate in the wakes of Hurricanes Florence and Michael and to further support DHHS employees and their communities that have been affected by the storms.

Several charities aligned with the campaign are providing aid to those affected by Hurricane Florence in the eastern part of the state. The American Red Cross, Salvation Army and United Way all have local chapters and programs helping victims with housing, food, transportation, child care and mental health services.

“The combined campaign is a chance for all of us to lend a helping hand to those less fortunate, and also help fellow team members whose lives were upended by Hurricane Florence,” said DHHS Combined Campaign Co-Chair Maggie Sauer.

Sauer, director of the Office of Rural Health is joined in DHHS campaign leadership duties by Chris Egan, executive director for the North Carolina Council on Developmental Disabilities.

The combined campaign offers state employees a convenient, efficient and trusted way to support more than 900 eligible local, national and international charities. Since beginning in 1985, the campaign has raised more than $107 million. Last year, $3.71 million was donated during the campaign, with DHHS employees donating $304,000. This year’s theme, “The Power of Giving,” represents the campaign’s belief in the generosity that exists in North Carolina.

DHHS is using E-Pledge for the 2018 campaign. All DHHS employees who were employed as of Aug. 15 and have email addresses received an email about participating in the SECC on Sept. 10 that contained a link allowing employees to complete a secure online pledge for the SECC. (This email should not be forwarded.)

DHHS employees who did not receive an E-Pledge email can still participate using an online donation option on the SECC website, or by using a paper pledge form, which is available from your local DHHS division or facility SECC team captains. Please see your Division/Facility Team Captains for details.

For a tax-deductible receipt, contact the SECC office at 919-821-2886 or go to www.ncsecc.org for more information.
