What We Do

The Office of Minority Health and Health Disparities (OMHHD) works to eliminate health disparities for all individuals and keeps communities healthy, safe, and connected to needed resources and services. OMHHD serves with a partnership-driven approach.

Communities of all backgrounds, individuals, leaders, ambassadors and advocates that work together make the greatest impact. By joining together, our OMHHD partnerships help identify barriers, share resources, service linkages and influence possible solutions, policies and systems changes to reduce the burden of health disparities and improve access issues.

OMHHD serves as a convenor, connector and ambassador for shared well-being. We are committed to removing barriers, elevating community voices and ensuring every North Carolinian has a fair chance at health. We provide inclusive leadership and guidance with a community-focused framework to drive innovative strategies and policy. Our mission is to promote and advocate for the elimination of disparities and improve health balanced opportunities especially in populations historically marginalized in North Carolina.

OMHHD uses data to help lead and guide a Health Access Call to Action, engage influencers and equip others with knowledge and resource linkages.

OMHHD believes, “Everyone has a role in building healthier futures for all.”
