Tammy Perry Discusses Accountability

Hello, my name is Tammy Perry and I’m a Recruiting Specialist with the Disability Determination Services Agency of Raleigh, NC.

Accountability, to me, is the actual responsibility of employees to complete the tasks they are assigned to perform and to be present, on time with the goals of the organization in mind.

Working within the Department of Health and Human Services, accountability has to be the major goal of how we, as an agency, handle our daily functions.

Many times, if we decide not to follow through with a policy or a guideline as outlined by our agency, we make the organization accountable for our actions. And, we have to keep in mind, that we represent not only the State of North Carolina but also the Social Security Administration.

Accountability at work is important for success as a whole because each employee, no matter what level of seniority, is equally responsible for aiding in the success of our goals and overall achievement.

In order to achieve the goals of this agency, whether long or short term, it’s important that all employees within this agency work together and share accountability. Employees who work together towards the same goal help their workplace become more accountable, whether by unit or by department, and in turn this makes Disability Determination Services more productive, efficient, but most of all, a Great Place to Work!
