July 19, 2019 – Once more, NCDHHS’ Broughton Hospital in Morganton has been named among the Top 20 Most Beautiful Hospitals in America

The 10th annual contest conducted by healthcare job and staffing services provider Soliant Health generated a record-setting number of nominations and a combined total of 8.5 million votes for the nominated facilities that people rated as "beautiful inside and out." The contest identified outstanding hospitals for their commitment to growing and improving their campuses and outpatient facilities.

Hospital employees, patients, community members, partners, stakeholders and other NCDHHS employees came together to cast their votes and see Broughton recognized for its historic beauty. Broughton was ranked 13th and tallied more than 19,000 votes.

The recognition described Broughton with the following summary:
"Broughton Hospital is comprised of an incredibly caring team of staff members who are committed to their work. A hospital that looks like an English castle that has stood the test of time and still stands as beautiful as it did when it was first built. The 135-year-old marble-and-brick facility is also the oldest building ever to make our rankings. Broughton jumps to the #13 spot for our 2019 ranking, after making an appearance in the 2018 and 2017 lists. As with 2018, Broughton is the sole “heritage” building on our 2019 list and only the second ever, after Johns Hopkins."
