Child Care Health Consultation

Purpose 

To enhance the health and safety of young children in early care and learning settings through child care health consultation.  

Description 

Child Care Health Consultants (CCHCs) are trained health professionals with education and experience in both child and community health and early care and education. CCHCs work with child care programs to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate strategies to achieve high-quality, safe and healthy environments. 

The Child Care Health Consultation program: 

  • Provides leadership in policy development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of public health efforts in early care and learning settings. 

  • Collaborates with the NC Child Care Health and Safety Resource Center to provide: 

  • health and safety resources, training, and technical assistance for early educators 

  • training, professional development opportunities, programmatic and coaching support for Child Care Health Consultants  

  • Establishes and maintains connections between Child Care Health Consultants, local health departments, and local, regional, and state agencies and organizations serving young children and families.
