Community Collaboratives
North Carolina’s Community Collaboratives are local groups that focus on the behavioral health and well-being of children and youth.
They are part of a larger North Carolina model called System of Care. It is a model that helps children, youth and families who are struggling with behavioral health issues, and who are involved with child service agencies.
Community Collaboratives bring people together as a team to make sure local families can get support. They meet regularly to:
- Share their experiences and connect with others
- Speak up for the needs of the community
- Offer training and hold community events
- Use local data to plan projects and track their progress
- Make sure the voices of young people and families are part of their work
Each group has a trained System of Care coordinator for support. A statewide group, the North Carolina Collaborative for Children, Youth & Families, works with the local Collaboratives and is an advocate at the state level.
