Murdoch provides services and support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), complex behavioral challenges and or medical conditions whose clinical treatment needs cannot be supported in the community. Murdoch operates four specialty programs including children and adolescents programs which are available for individuals residing in all regions of the state.Mission, Vision, and ValuesHistorical Facts and InformationPhotos of our Facility Eligibility and Admission Criteria Persons eligible for admission to Murdoch Developmental Center shall meet the following criteria: Have an intellectual disability and or developmental disability and Are at least 18 years of age (excludes the specialized programs for children and adolescents) and Have complex behavioral challenges and or medical conditions and clinical treatment needs that meet the ICF-IID level of care and cannot be supported in the community and Community resources have been explored and an appropriate community based program is not available. Referral and Application Process Information Services Our services include: Facility based respite services are provided to give caregivers temporary relief. General population residential program (non-specialty programs) serves adults providing a broad array of residential, medical, habilitation and training services to promote independence. BART (Behaviorally Advanced Residential Treatment) and Next Step serves adult males with an IDD diagnosis and extreme behavioral challenges. STARS (Specialized Treatment for Adolescents in a Residential Setting) serves adolescents ages 13 through 17 who have dual diagnosis (developmental disability and mental illness). The length of stay is up to one year. PATH (Partners in Autism Treatment and Habilitation) serves children ages 6 through 16 with autism spectrum disorder and serious behavioral challenges. The length of stay is up to two years. TRACK (Therapeutic Respite Addressing Crisis for Kids) serves children ages 5 through 17 who have intellectual disabilities and or autism spectrum disorders, serious behavioral challenges and are in behavioral crisis. The length of stay is between 3-45 days. The committee reviews cases of alleged rights violations and mistreatment. Members of the Human Rights Committee are available to hear the concerns of any person, parent, or guardian if violations of rights occur. Human Rights Committee Meetings are held in the J. Michael Hennike Building Large Conference Room at 6pm on the Fourth Wednesday each month, except 2nd Wednesday in December; and no meetings held in July and November. Volunteer Information The Volunteer Services Department at Murdoch Center works diligently to provide tangible and intangible supports to people living at the Center in an effort to improve their quality of life. Support from the community is critical to achieve this goal. They also assist by providing a program of camping and vacation experiences.
