  • Try out assistive technology for recreation, active living, and leisure activities.
  • Learn about resources to participate in local recreation and senior activities.
  • Meet new people with similar interests.
  • Get active, try something new and have fun.

Learn about local resources and get hands-on experience with accessible equipment at an Adaptive Recreation and Active Living Resource Fair near you. All fairs are free and open to the public. We encourage everyone interested in staying active and accessible recreation and leisure activities to attend.

Click the “Register Now” button to reserve your spot at a fair near you. If you need a reasonable accommodation, including ASL or other spoken language interpreters, please let us know at least 14 days in advance.

The 2023 AT Expo is fast approaching held on October 5, 2023, at the McKimmon Conference and Training Center in Raleigh, NC.

The Expo will feature a Vendor Hall with over 30 Vendors, Break-Out Sessions that include CEU credits, and Poster presentations. This year’s event is In-Person but will have a Virtual option for any that cannot attend in person.

The North Carolina Assistive Technology Program (NCATP) hosted its 3rd AT Virtual Vendor Expo on September 29, 2022 at 9 am.
The virtual platform will be Zoom powered by the McKimmon Conference and Training Center in Raleigh, NC.

All are invited and encouraged to participate including individuals with disabilities, family members/caregivers, employers, local/state/national resources providing support to individuals, senior living providers, students, parents of children with special needs, older adults, VR Counselors, therapists, and educators.

“Personal Testimony: Innovation for One-Handed Living”
Mr. Maxwell will discuss methods he has developed and adapted to make one-handed living easier. He will demonstrate tips and tricks he has learned throughout the years. He is a graduate of West Virginia University as well as from Full Sail University where he studied film. He has many interests some of which are traveling, photography, music, and restoring cars.

“Improving the Quality of life with ImaginAble Solutions”
Guided Hands assists people experiencing limited hand dexterity, hand weakness, or difficulty grasping and controlling objects because of an injury or a medical condition such as Cerebral Palsy, Arthritis, Huntington’s Disease, Dementia, spinal cord injuries, and strokes.

“Mind Mapping – Brainstorming, Organization, Writing, Note Taking, Time Management, etc.”
In this interactive presentation, attendees will be guided through Mind Mapping best practices on how to visually organize topics, research, cite and reference information, and export data in any academic format, such as APA, MLA, etc. Furthermore, we will illustrate when Mind Mapping is paired with technology how it can enhance creativity, clarify thinking and improve understanding of the subject at hand.

“Creating a Connection with Nature”
Heather will provide an overview of a therapeutic program in a public garden setting - highlighting successes of the Ability Garden, talk about adaptive gardening in general, using nature to build community and connect with others. She will provide examples of using gardens, plants and nature metaphorically.

Personal Testimony: “The Benefits of AT through the eyes of a Man with CP”
Brendon will discuss how he uses AT and the positive and negative things about it. 
He will give you his perspective of how a man with CP uses Assistive Technology.
