Strengthening Communities for a Lifetime

Strengthening Communities for a Lifetime

The goal of Strengthening Communities for a Lifetime is to ensure North Carolinians will live in communities, neighborhoods and homes that support thriving at all stages and ages.

From housing to transportation, we’re shaping communities where people of all ages can thrive together. These are key priorities, and the Workgroup and Subgroups collaborate to make the plans a reality.

  • Encourage universal design
  • Promote aging in place

Priority: Adult Protective Services

  • Allocate state funding to county DSS for APS
  • Establish pilot alternative protective response program

Priority: Age-friendly State and Communities

  • Assist age-friendly efforts
  • Foster culture of healthy living
