  • In February 2021, North Carolina Division of Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing's Jan Withers and Lee Williamson along with co-authors Kathleen C. Thomas, Mark J. Myers, and Izabela E. Annis published an article on health disparities through communications in Taylor & Francis Health Communication Journal, “Communication Access Disparity for Deaf ASL Users in Health Care Settings Across The State of North Carolina."
  • In April 2020, the North Carolina Institute of Medicine Published a Task Force Report: Assuring Accessible Communication for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind Individuals in Health Settings.
