Types of Community Crisis Centers
There are two kinds of crisis centers where you can go:
- Behavioral Health Urgent Care (BHUC) facilities provide immediate help but not hospital-level care. Almost all are open 24/7 and can support you for up to 23 hours.
- Facility-based Crisis Centers provide more intensive care and a safe place to stay for more than one day. You can go for short-term inpatient mental health stabilization or substance use detox.
Any of these centers will help you in a crisis. Go to whichever one is closest to you, and they’ll help you find the treatment you need.
