Serving Two Million Children and Their Families in all 100 NC Counties
Our Mission & Impact
Healthy, Thriving Children in Every North Carolina County
With a team of over 1,000 dedicated staff, DCFW serves children and families in all 100 North Carolina counties and contributes significant financial benefits to the state. North Carolina allocates $55 million in state funds to support DCFW programs, which leverage an additional $5 billion in federal funding, the majority of which goes directly to children and families while stimulating the state’s retail economy.
From administering federal nutrition programs like SNAP and WIC to providing direct services through NC’s Infant-Toddler Program and Early Intervention services, we’re there – helping North Carolina’s children thrive in safe, stable and nurturing families, schools and communities.

Why DCFW?
A Smart Investment in North Carolina's Future
DCFW brings together complementary programs and services to address the needs of the children and families of North Carolina. We set children up for success by meeting their social, emotional, and physical needs so they can thrive. We also leverage funding sources more efficiently to better serve children and families where they are.
We are uniquely situated in that our team provides direct services that tangibly impact children and families using a whole-child, whole-family approach while administering some of the largest federally funded nutrition programs: our programs directly impact North Carolinians by way of services or benefits received.
