NCDHHS Strategic Priorities

NCDHHS is focusing on three priorities through 2024. Investing in behavioral health and resilience, supporting child and family well-being and building a strong and inclusive workforce. These priorities are grounded in whole-person health and equity and cut across a broader strategic plan that NCDHHS uses to drive effective operations and measure the impact of services provided throughout the state.

Find a Flu Vaccine

Don’t let the flu stop you this winter. Doctors recommend that everyone ages 6 months and older get their annual flu shot. Flu vaccines are available at little to no cost at providers across the state. People should get their flu vaccine early to build up immunity before the virus becomes widespread in late fall and winter.

Strategies to Reduce Violence and Firearm Misuse

NCDHHS has released a white paper describing public health strategies to reduce firearm violence and misuse with the goal of keeping families and communities safe from firearm injury and death.

What We Do

The Department of Health and Human Services manages the delivery of health- and human-related services for all North Carolinians, especially our most vulnerable citizens – children, elderly, disabled and low-income families. The Department works closely with health care professionals, community leaders and advocacy groups; local, state and federal entities; and many other stakeholders to make this happen.
