Senior Community Services Employment Program

Notice: The North Carolina Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is currently seeking one or more sponsors for the Program in seven counties in the western region of the state. The RFA can be found under Files on this page. There will be a Bidder's Information Session on Thursday, May 5th at 11 am via Zoom. Please click on the link below under the "Related Content" tab or input the information manually into the Zoom portal. If you experience technical difficulties during the Session, please contact Elder Rights Section Chief, Kathryn Lanier at (919) 538-4671 or Kathryn.Lanier@dhhs.nc.gov

The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) places economically disadvantaged adults aged 55+into part-time community service assignments which assists them in transitioning into unsubsidized employment. SCSEP enables them to acquire job skills and work experience by training 20hrs per week in non-profit and governmental agencies while they receive a training stipend for their efforts.  The Program also provides other opportunities for professional growth and development through educational workshops and internships. For additional information about SCSEP please see the directory and contact your local service provider. The Program is offered through the State and three national contractors.
