Deaf and Hard of Hearing Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Services
The North Carolina Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Use Services provides funding and oversight of specialized out-patient mental health and substance use services for deaf, hard of hearing and deaf-blind individuals statewide.
All services, including crisis solutions, may be initiated through Local Management Entities/Managed Care Organizations (LME/MCO)s. Additionally, outpatient services may be initiated through the division’s contractual partner, RHA Behavioral Health. For more information on services from RHA Behavioral Health, call 919-825-2869 (8am-5pm Monday through Friday). Services are provided by culturally competent clinicians and outreach specialists fluent in American Sign Language.
Specialized in-patient psychiatric and substance use services are managed by the Department of Health and Human Services and provided at Broughton Hospital in Morganton.
